Returns & Exchanges Policy

All orders placed outright (not Try Before You Buy) are available for a full refund or exchange within 14 days of delivery. 

Sale items and gift cards are not accepted.

Orders placed through our Try Before You Buy program are eligible for free returns and exchanges. Click here for more details

Please note:

  • Exchanges and returns require return shipping to be covered by the customer, both ways
  • Store credits are issued to your Shade Eyewear account and never expire
  • All sales on merch items are final - no returns, exchanges, or store credit

12-Month Unbreakable Promise - Terms & Conditions

Shade Eyewear stands behind every pair of sunglasses we sell. If your sunnies break within 12 months of purchase, we will replace them. This document sets out the terms of that guarantee so there are no surprises.

1. What the Promise Covers

  • Physical breakage of the frame, including snapped temples, broken hinges, or cracked frame bodies under normal use
  • Lens delamination, coating failures, or lens cracking that occurs under normal use and is not the result of intentional damage
  • Manufacturing defects, including structural weaknesses in materials that cause premature failure
  • Hinge or nose pad failures that render the sunglasses unwearable

2. What the Promise Does Not Cover

  • Lost or stolen sunglasses
  • Scratched lenses resulting from neglect, improper cleaning, or contact with abrasive surfaces
  • Intentional damage or damage caused by misuse, neglect, or use outside the intended purpose of the product
  • Water or heat damage caused by leaving sunglasses in extreme conditions (e.g. on a car dashboard, submerged for extended periods)
  • Damage caused by third parties or accidents beyond reasonable everyday wear
  • Cosmetic changes including fading, discolouration, or surface marks that do not affect the structural integrity or functionality of the sunglasses
  • Sunglasses purchased from an unauthorised reseller or third-party marketplace not affiliated with Shade Eyewear

3. Eligibility Requirements

  • The claim must be made within 12 months of the original purchase date
  • Proof of purchase must be provided - this can be your order confirmation email or receipt from shadeeyewear.com.au
  • The broken sunglasses (or clear photographic evidence of the damage) must be provided at the time of the claim
  • The sunglasses must have been purchased directly from shadeeyewear.com.au or an authorised Shade Eyewear stockist
  • A description and how they broke and photos must be included
  • Warranty on sale items covers manufacturing defects only and not broken or damaged sunglasses

4. How to Make a Claim

Making a claim is simple:

  • Email us at hello@shadeeyewear.com.au with the subject line 'Unbreakable Guarantee Claim'
  • Include your order number and a brief description of what happened
  • Attach clear photos of the damage from multiple angles
  • Our team will review your claim and respond within 2 business days

If your claim is approved, we will send you a replacement pair of the same style and colour where available. If the original style is no longer available, we will offer you a replacement of equal value. 

  • Please note: You will be required to cover the cost of shipping for the replacement

5. Replacement, Not Refund

The 12-Month Unbreakable Guarantee provides for replacement of the product only. It does not entitle the claimant to a cash refund. If you would prefer a refund rather than a replacement, please refer to our standard Returns & Refund Policy available at shadeeyewear.com.au.

Each pair of sunglasses is eligible for one replacement under this guarantee. A replacement pair is covered for the remainder of the original 12-month guarantee period only, not a new 12-month period from the date of replacement.

6. Australian Consumer Law

This guarantee is provided in addition to, and does not limit, exclude, or modify any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). Under the ACL, our products come with guarantees that cannot be excluded, including that goods are of acceptable quality, match their description, and are fit for purpose.

If a major failure occurs with your product, you may be entitled to a replacement or refund. If the failure is minor, we may choose to repair or replace the item. Nothing in these terms affects those statutory rights.

7. Applies to Sunglasses Only

This 12-Month Broken Guarantee applies exclusively to Shade Eyewear sunglasses. It does not apply to the Shade Eyewear Safety Range or prescription range. Our Safety range and prescription options will only be covered by manufacturing defects and faults.

8. Fraudulent Claims

Shade Eyewear reserves the right to decline any claim that it reasonably believes to be fraudulent, exaggerated, or made in bad faith. Repeated claims from the same customer may be subject to additional review.

9. Changes to These Terms

Shade Eyewear reserves the right to update or modify these terms at any time. Any changes will be published at shadeeyewear.com.au and will apply to purchases made after the date of update. Your guarantee terms are those in effect at the time of your original purchase.
